Widgets are one of the newest and neatest features offered by Microsoft Windows, and you will find them on your desktop in the newly released Windows 7 operating system. With simple desktop programs known as widgets you will be able to monitor a calendar, the weather, time, temperature, news, traffic, UFX Markets Trading and more. You can even run an endless slide-show full of your favorite photographs right on your desktop.
Widgets and gadgets can put a variety of useful and fun information on your desktop. Windows Vista featured these gadgets and widgets, but Windows 7 has taken them to a completely new level. In Windows 7, instead of lining all the gadgets up on the rightmost side of your desktop, the gadgets are set free on your screen which means that you are going to be able to move them as well as re-size them however you see fit.
If you drag one of the gadgets close to your desktop edge, it will snap neatly into its place allowing you to create a streamlined look. Some of the best gadgets and widgets for you to use are the clock, the slide show and the feed headlines, though there are numerous others for you to play with including weather gadgets and other picture gadgets. Play with the menus and the settings for each gadget to see what they are capable of.
When you right mouse click on the gadget that you want to play with, a menu will appear to tell you what you can do with it. For example, you can set them to always be on top, or you can set them to hide underneath your other windows. You can also change the opacity level of each of the gadgets, which is beneficial if you want them to be “always on top” without blocking whatever else you are doing. Play with these gadgets until they are meeting your needs and desires in the best possible way.
